E-Passport to be launched in December: Finance Minister

Leaving all kinds of barriers, e-passport will be launched in December this year in the country.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said, “E-passport will be launched in December. A Germany company who is working on it, will complete the tasks within December. Then, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will inaugurate the e-passport process officially.”

The minister said this while addressing reporters after a meeting of Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs and Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase at secretariat on Wednesday evening.

The e-passport inauguration was scheduled to hold in last July but could not be launched.

Following the issue, he said, “E-passport process could not be launched in July last. A Germany company has been assigned to implement the project. They have moved far ahead in this regard. In today's meeting, Home Minister informed us that Prime Minister herself will inaugurate it within December. People will get the e-passport in December.”
