Burned Rajshahi college girl dies

The female college student, who set herself on fire in broad daylight in front of Shah Makhdum Police Station in Rajshahi, has died.

Liza, 19, died around 7.00am on Wednesday at Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) while undergoing treatment.

DMCH police outpost acting in-charge Abdullah Khan confirmed the matter.

Liza, daughter of Abdul Latif Biswas at Gobindaganj upazila  in Gaibandha district, was a second year student of Rajshahi Mohila College. She used to reside in a mess in Pobapara area of Rajshahi city.

She also got married to a student, Shakhawat Hossain.

She set herself ablaze in front of Shah Makhdum Police Station as police refused to accept a torture case against her husband.

Locals rescued Liza and sent her to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH), but she was then transferred to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital for better treatment.
