By-polls to Chattogram-8 constituency on Jan 13

By-elections to Chattogram-8 constituency will be held on January 13.

The election commission secretary MD Alamgir announced the election schedule while addressing a press briefing on Sunday.

He said, the last date to submit nomination papers is December 12. The scrutiny of nominations will end on December 15 while the last date for withdrawing candidature is December 22. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will be used in the by-polls.

The constituency fell vacant following the demise of the veteran politician and freedom fighter Moinuddin Khan Badal on November 7. He died while undergoing treatment at the Narayana Institute of Cardiac Sciences (NICS) at Bangalore in India.
