Govt to begin drives against unapproved vehicles, grabbing

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has said the government will begin a coordinating drive against all unapproved vehicles including illegal rickshaws, easy-bikes (battery-run auto-rickshaw) very soon.

The Minister said this while speaking at a programme of Dhaka Transport Coordination Authority (DTCA) in the capital’s Nagar Bhaban on Sunday.

He said, “Our action programmes in this regard were halted due to dengue menace. The two city corporations have given their consent to resume drives against unapproved vehicles and illegal footpath occupation. Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) and other authorities concern will take necessary measures in this regard.”
