Atiqul resigns as DNCC mayor

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam on Monday resigned from his post to contest the upcoming city elections as a mayoral candidate.

Atiqul Islam signed the resign letter on Monday afternoon, his political secretary Saifuddin Emon confirmed.

Earlier on February 28, this year Atiqul Islam won the by-polls of DNCC with the nomination from Awami League. He got nine months only to serve the DNCC.

The elections to Dhaka north and south city corporations will be held on January 30, 2020.
