Barrister Syed Sayedul Haque Sumon left his family—wife, two children and mother—in the United States as he felt ‘life risk’ in Bangladesh.
Sumon came up with the disclosure while speaking at a new year programme in US on Thursday.
The Supreme Court Lawyer became familiar figure across the country for his role of Facebook Live on different issues and filing case against OC Moazzem Hossain over Feni madrasa student Nusrat Jahan Rafi.
He said, “I first realized that I’m in life risk. So, I decided to leave my family in US. I do not want that my next generation suffer like me and can blame me.”
“I’m leaving my wife, mother and two children in America. I request you to look after them if I could not live and return here,” he added.
He said, “You know that people who did well for Bangladesh could not live. Bangabandhu and Ziaur Rahman could not live. Sheikh Hasina was also attacked 19/20 times till now.”
“Bangladesh would not be far behind if the four national leaders are alive,” he added.
He also spoke over the murder of former Finance Minister and Awami League leader Shah A M S Kibria.
Barrister Sumon said, “Many say Hindus are minority in Bangladesh. But I say honesty is minority. Honest people are minority. “
He also said, “Following filing case against OC Moazzem, opposition lawyers said before court- “My lord, Barrister Sumon filed the case to seek Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’a attention. On the following day I told the court- “If other people to stand like me for getting Sheikh Hasina’s attention, Bangladesh would go forward so far.”
