Clash during Gopibagh polls campaign: One arrested

Detective Branch (DB) of police arrested one person named Ariful Islam in connection with a case filed over the shooting during a clash between supporters of BNP and Awami League candidates in Dhaka’s Gopibagh area on January 26.

He was arrested from the capital’s Hatirjheel area on Wednesday night.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Abdul Baten disclosed his arrest at a press briefing at DMP Media Centre in the capital on Thursday noon.

A gun and 50 bullets were also recovered from his possession, he said.
