Highest punishment for illegal vote

Brigadier General Saidul Islam, Chief of Monitoring Cell formed for law and order situation coordination during Dhaka city polls, said highest punishment will be awarded if someone is found to cast vote on Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) illegally.

He came up with the warning while briefing reporters at Nirbachan Bhaban in the capital’s Agargaon on Friday afternoon.

Saidul Islam said finger prints of all voters will be reserved. All finger prints will be checked after votes. If someone casts illegal vote, he will be awarded highest punishment after investigation.

He further said voters will be identified through NID and smart cards. If any voter does not bear NID, he will be verified through the number of voter list.
