19 prison guards, 1 inmate test coronavirus positive

19 prison guards and an inmate tested positive for the coronavirus or COVID-19 in Keraniganj Central Jail.

The infected are being treated at Jinjira and Mugda general hospitals.

Confirming the matter to risingbd on Monday (May 4), Jailer Mahbubul Islam said, "Those who are showing symptoms like this are being asked to do sample tests and if their report comes back positive, then they are being admitted to hospitals."

19 prison guards and an inmate have been found to be infected with coronavirus. Besides, 70 more suspected have been placed in quarantine, according to a source at the jail.

If someone shows symptoms like fever, cold, cough and pain, he or she is being treated under the supervision of jail authorities, the source added.
