Kidney damaged from police torture: HC for Imran’s dope test

The High Court (HC) has asked authority concerned to conduct dope test for Imran Hossain, a youth whose kidney was damaged due to police torture in Jashore.

The HC asked Jashore Civil Surgeon to submit a report of his dope test on July 5.

The virtual bench of Justice JBM Hasan passed the order on Sunday after hearing a writ filed in this regard.

Barrister Mohammad Humayun Kabir Pallab moved for the writ petition while deputy attorney general Samarendra Nath Biswas appeared for the state.

Earlier on June 23, the court ordered for a report of the latest physical condition of Imran Hossain.

Alongside, the court also asked Superintendent of Police (SP) in Jashore to submit a report whether police investigation is completed over the incident.

The reports were submitted to the court on Sunday.

Deputy attorney general Samarendra Nath Biswas said both reports were submitted to the court today (June 28). Police report said divisional steps were taken against the cops involved in the incident.

He further said, ‘After checking report of Imran’s latest physical condition submitted by Civil Surgeon, the court ordered for dope test of Imran.’

On June 18, Supreme Court lawyers Barrister Humayun Kabir Pallab and Barrister Mohammad Kawsar filed a writ petition to the HC in this regard.

The home secretary, superintendent of police of Jashore, chief judicial magistrate, IGP, civil surgeon and OC of Jashore Kotwali Model Police Station were made defendants.
