Wari to go under lockdown from July 4

Wari area under ward no 41 of Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) will be put under lockdown from early Saturday (July 4).
DSCC Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh made the announcement on Tuesday afternoon, after a meeting of lockdown implementation committee held at Nagar Bhaban.
He said, ‘All preparations have been taken. All quarters concerned have been given time so that people do not get panicked and e-commerce organisations can reach products door to door in the lockdown area.’
DSCC Mayor said, ‘The lockdown will cover Tipu Sultan Road, Jahangir Road, from Joykali temple to Baldha Garden, Lalmini Road, Hore Road, Ware Road, Rankin Street and Nawab Road. Entry gates of all roads will be closed except two for movement. There will be a control room in the area.’
Taposh further said essential goods will be delivered in the lockdown area after involving super-shops through E-Commerce Association.’
Adding that the experience of lockdown in East Rajabazar will be utilized, Taposh said, ‘A sample collection booth will be set up at the central control room. Arrangement for isolation will be made at DSCC Metropolitan Hospital. Along with coronavirus infected people, non-Covid patients will also be given treatment there. Apart from pharmacies, all shops will remain shut in the area.’
Members of the Armed forces and Police will be on full-time duty to implement the lockdown, he added.
