Shahed paid his loan by fake notes: RAB

Regent Group Chairman Md Shahed alias Shahed Karim usually paid his loan by counterfeit currency, said law enforcers today.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) additional commissioner Abdul Baten on Friday (July 17) told risingbd Shahed was interrogated on Thursday night. During the interrogation, he provided some important information. Specially, he talked about his fake notes.

Drive to be conducted to recovered fake note making equipment, he said.

Ashik Billah, director of RAB's legal and media wing said, a total of 1 lakh 46 thousands of fake currency were recovered from Shahed’s office. He used those fake notes while buying something. He harassed people using those. A case has been filed under speedy trial tribunal in this regard.

On July 15, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) personnel arrested him from border area of Debhata upazila in Satkhira on charge of issuing fake COVID-19 test certificates.
