Writer Humayun Ahmed’s 8th death anniversary today

The 8th death anniversary of celebrated playwright, writer and filmmaker Humayun Ahmed is being observed today (July 19).

On this day, he breathed his last suffering from cancer at a hospital in New York. He was 68 only.

Meher Afroze Shawon, wife of the legendary writer said, doa mahfil will be organized in Nuhash Palli. But, the food distribution program on this occasion has been cancelled to avoid gathering following coronavirus. However, different television channels will air various programmes highlighting the life and works of the wordsmith.

Saiful Islam Bulbul, caretaker of Nuhash Palli said, various programmes including offering special prayers were abserved at the writer's graveyard holding milad and doa mahfil. But, there is no such programme this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Humayun Ahmed was born in Netrakona's Mohanganj to Foyzur Rahman Ahmed and Ayesha Foyez on November 13, 1948.
