Shahed’s assistant Shibli admits guilt

Tariqul Islam alias Shibli, a close associate of the chairman of Regent Hospital Shahed, on Friday admitted to a Dhaka court that he was involved in the heinous crime of fake coronavirus certificate distribution.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Mamunur Rashid recorded Shibli's confessional statement after police produced him to the court. Later, he was sent to jail.

Earlier on July 9, Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested him from Nakhalpara area of the capital around 11am in a case filed on charges of issuing fake Covid-19 test results and charging patients for the test.

The court granted five days of remand for him on July 10 and seven days remand on July 16.
