Charge sheet ready in Sinha murder case

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has prepared the charge sheet in the case filed over the killing of Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan at Teknaf police check post in Cox’s Bazar.

Lt Col Ashiq Billah, Director (legal and media wing) of RAB, confirmed the matter to risingbd on Saturday (December 12) night.

He said, “The charge sheet will be submitted to the court at any time. The investigation has been conducted impartially and fearlessly with 100% professionalism. However, it cannot be said how many people have been charged in the charge sheet.”

According to sources concerned with the investigation, 15 people, including former OC of Teknaf Police Station Pradeep Kumar Das, were found involved in the incident. 14 of them are in jail. Apart from OC Pradeep, details of Baharchhara police camp inspector Liaquat Ali, SI Nandadulal Rakshit, a few policemen from Teknaf police station, three members of the Armed Police Battalion (APBn) and three locals have been known.

Mentionable, on the night of July 31, the carrying Sinha was stopped at Shamlapur on Marine Drive. Sinha got down from his car. Then police shot him to death.

The incident created strong criticism across the country. Later, the court gave the responsibility for the case on RAB for investigation.

On August 5, Sinha’s elder sister filed a case with Cox’s Bazar court in this connection. Nine including OC Pradeep sued in the case.
