3rd phase municipal polls on Jan 30

The Election Commission (EC) has announced the schedule for the elections to 64 municipalities in third phase.

The voting in these municipalities will be held on January 30.

The EC made the announcement at the Nirbachan Bhaban at Agargaon in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar of Dhaka on Monday (December 14).

In the third phase, the election will be held in 64 municipalities. The last date of nomination paper submission scheduled on December 31, nomination papers scrutinize on January 3, last date of nomination papers withdrawal on January 10 and voting on January 30.

EC Senior Secretary Md Alamgir said the voting, to be conducted through balloting, will begin from 8am and continue till 4pm without any break.

Country’s total municipalities are 329 where 259 are prepared for elections, according to EC sources.
