When cyclone turns into super cyclone?

Cyclone Amphan hit Bangladesh on May 20, 2020. Many people have not yet been able to return to normal life due to the impact of Amphan, which turned into a ‘Super Cyclone’.

Amphan carried out violence in various coastal areas including Cox’s Bazar, Dinajpur, Satkhira and Khulna.

Before recovery of the wound, another cyclone ‘Yaas’ is approaching towards Bangladesh. It is also feared to be turned into a ‘super cyclone’. Let’s have an idea what a super cyclone is.

When the wind speed of a cyclone exceeds 220 kilometers per hour, it turns into a ‘super cyclone’.

According to Wikipedia, cyclones in Bangladesh and India are divided into four categories according to wind intensity and destructive force. If the wind speed caused by a cyclone is 62 to 88 kilometers per hour, it is called a cyclone or tropical cyclone.

If the velocity is 89-117 kmph, it is called a severe cyclone or a ‘severe cyclonic storm’. When the wind speed is 118 to 219 kilometers per hour, then it is called hurricane speed cyclone or ‘very severe cyclonic storm’. When the speed is 220 km or more, it is called ‘Super Cyclone’.

As the wind intensity is the highest in a super cyclone, there is a risk of massive damage to human beings and animals due to its impact. Although cyclones cause disasters, they are a normal process of weathering, which balances the earth’s heat. On an average, about 80 cyclones occur in the world every year. Most of the cyclones melts at sea, but the small number of storms that hit the coast often causes terrible damage.
