8 lakh more vaccine doses arrive from Japan

Bangladesh received some 781,440 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine as the fourth consignment of the pledged three million doses of such jabs from Japan under COVAX framework.

The vaccine doses arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA) around 3:30 pm on Saturday (August 21).

Touhid-ul-Ahsan, executive director of the airport confirmed the matter to risingbd.

Japan promised to send more than 30 lakh doses of AstraZeneca vaccine in phases. Already the country has sent 24 lakh doses of vaccine.

Foreign Ministry said, Bangladesh received 245,200 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine as the first consignment from Japan on July 24. In the second and third phases, Bangladesh received 781,320 and 616,780 doses of vaccine respectively on July 31 and August 2 from the friendly nation.
