Bangabandhu tunnel to be opened Friday midnight

Planning Minister MA Mannan said Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tunnel will be opened at midnight next Friday (October 8).

He made the disclosure while addressing a press conference after a meeting of the National Economic Council at the Planning Ministry’s NEC conference room in the capital’s Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday (October 5).

“During the ECNEC meeting today, we came to know that Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tunnel (Karnaphuli tunnel) is being opened at midnight next Friday although it was supposed to open by December. It’s a very joyful news. It’s also a very exciting matter to the young generation,” Mannan said.

He also mentioned that vehicles cannot ply through the tunnel at this moment.
