Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has urged the transport owners and workers to withdraw their ongoing strike.
Obaidul Quader made the call at a press briefing at his government residence in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban area on Friday.
A committee of BRTA will hold a meeting with stakeholders on Sunday (November 7) to review transport fares, and a reasonable decision will be taken so that common people do not face any suffering”, he said.
A countrywide transport strike is underway from Friday morning, causing immense sufferings to the commuters.
Transport owners and workers have called the strike in protest against increase in fuel prices.
Earlier, on Wednesday (November 3), the government issued a notification raising the prices from Tk 65 to Tk 80 due to continuing rally of fuel prices in the global market.
Customers will have to pay Tk 80 for per litre of diesel or kerosene, said the press release of Energy and Mineral Resources Division.
