A meeting between Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and transport leaders for re-fixing bus fare started at BRTA headquarters in Dhaka this morning.
The meeting started after 11:30am on Sunday (November 7).
They sat for the meeting to re-fix bus fare following the latest hike in fuel prices.
BRTA Chairman Nur Mohammad Mazumder is presiding over today’s meeting where leaders of Transport Owners’ Association attended, said Mohammad Abdur Razzak, deputy director (Admin) of BRTA.
Earlier on Wednesday (November 3), the government increased diesel and kerosene prices by Tk15 per litre — from Tk65 to Tk80 — in order to keep them in line with rising fuel prices in the global market.
In protest against the latest hike in the price of kerosene and diesel, different associations of public and cargo transport owners and workers on Friday launched an indefinite strike. They have been observing the strike for the third consecutive day protesting the move.
