State minister for foreign affairs M Shahriar Alam and foreign secretary Masud Bin Momen are likely to travel to Pakistan to join a special session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the OIC on the situation in Afghanistan.
It will be the first visit of a Bangladesh minister to Pakistan in the past nine years.
For a long time, no high-level delegation from Bangladesh visited Pakistan centering the punishment of war criminals.
In 2012, Gowher Rizvi, prime minister's adviser on international relations, went to Pakistan to attend a D8 Summit. In 2010, then foreign secretary Mohammed Mijarul Kayes travelled to Islamabad for foreign office consultation usually led by the foreign secretaries.
