Poet Quazy Rosy no more

Quazy Rosy, a poet and politician, passed away today (February 20) midnight while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in the capital.
She breathed her last today around 2:30am.
The news of her demise was confirmed by her daughter Sumi Sikander.
On January 30, Quazy Rosy had been admitted to a hospital in the capital with various health complications. She was transferred to the ICU unit of the isolation unit, after being tested positive for Covid-19 (coronavirus).
During that period, Sumi Sikandar informed that Quazy Rosy’s brain was not functioning properly; she had a kidney infection and multi organ dysfunction.
Her family said, she will be laid to rest at the cemetery in capital’s Mirpur.
Quazy Rosy was born on January 1, 1949 in Satkhira. She studied literature at Dhaka University’s Department of Bangla for both her graduate and postgraduate degrees.
She began writing poems in 1960s. Some of her remarkable books on poems are – Larai, Pathghat Manusher Naam, Amar Piraner Kono Map Nei, and others. She was awarded the Bangla Academy Literary Award in 2018 for her special contribution to poetry. She also received Ekushey Padak in 2021.
She was elected as a Member of Parliament from the reserved women’s seat for Satkhira as an independent candidate.
