Two rival Chhatra League factions clash at Shaheed Minar

Leaders and activists of Dhaka University Hall Unit Chhatra League have locked into a clash while they were paying tributes to the martyrs of the historic Language Movement on the occasion of Amar Ekushey and the International Mother Language Day.

The clash erupted between the leaders and activists of Jagannath Hall Chhatra League and Shahidullah Hall Chhatra League following the paying of tributes by placing wreaths at the Central Shaheed Minar on Monday (February 21), causing a tense situation in the Shaheed Minar area.

During the clash, a chaotic situation was created in the area by tearing banners and bouquets brought by representatives of different organizations. Many of the leaders and activists were seen using bamboo which left at least 10 people injured during the clash.

Law enforcers were seen trying to bring the situation under control.
