Garment workers block Mirpur roads for arrears, Eid bonus

Garment workers are staging demonstration by blocking roads in Dhaka’s Mirpur area, demanding Eid festival bonus and arrears.

Due to the demonstration, vehicular movement in the area came to a standstill and commuters are facing huge trouble.

Confirming the matter, Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pallabi Police Station Parvej Islam said, “Around 150 workers of a garment factory named Cotton Textile located in Mirpur 11 blocked the roads and chanted slogans to press home their demands after 9:00 am on Saturday (April 23). We have talked to owners of the factory. They said they will give Eid bonus and arrears to their workers in due time.”
