Jamaat’s registration cancellation full verdict released

Staff Correspondent, DHAKA, Nov 2: The High Court on Saturday released the full text of its verdict that declared the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami as a political party illegal.

The section concerned of the High Court published the full text after Justice M Moazzem Husain, Justice M Enayetur Rahim and Justice Quazi Reza Ul-Hoque signed the 158-page verdict.

On August 1, the High Court considering a writ petition filed in 2009 declared Jamaat`s registration as a party illegal and its charter contrary to the Constitution.

Meanwhile, Jamaat’s lawyer Tajul Islam said that they had not yet received the certified copy.

On August 5, the Supreme Court rejected the plea by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami seeking a stay order on the High Court verdict.
