BTRC bans sale of Grameenphone SIM cards

Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has imposed an indefinite ban on the sale of SIM cards of Grameenphone.

The operator will not be able to sell new SIMs until further notice.

Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar told risingbd that the decision was taken as the phone company is not providing quality service to its users despite repeatedly being asked to do so.

Following the deadline of the suspension, the minister said, “Until they improve the quality of service to a satisfactory level, there will be a ban on the sale of Grameenphone SIMs.”

In addition, it is known that BTRC sent a directive to Grameenphone in this regard on Wednesday (June 29).
