Rail track installation on Padma Bridge begins

Installation of rail track on the lower deck of Padma Bridge has started.

Railways Minister Nurul Islam Sujan inaugurated the works at Zajira end of the bridge around 12:00pm on Saturday.

After the inauguration, the minister said, “We are working with a plan to start rail operation on Dhaka-Bhanga section via the bridge by June next year.

The railway minister said the installation works will be completed within the next four months.

BR is implementing the Dhaka-Jashore rail project to build the 169km rail line through the Padma Bridge. The entire project is scheduled to be completed by June 2024.
