Sajeda Chowdhury’s first janaza held

The first namaz-e-janaza of senior Awami League lawmaker Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury was held in Nagarkanda upazila of Faridpur.
The namaz-e-janaza was held at MN Academy school ground of the upazila at around 11:15am on Monday (September 12).
Several politicians, including Mirza Azam, distinct unit Awami League President Shamim Haque, General Secretary Shah Md Ishtiaq Arif and people from all walks of life attended the janaza.
Her body will be taken to Central Shaheed Minar at Dhaka University for people of all walks life to pay tribute to the veteran Awami League leader.
Later, she will be laid to eternal rest with state honors at Banani graveyard after her second namaz-e-janaza at Baitul Mokarram National Mosque following the Asr prayers.
Sajeda Chowdhury, an Awami League Presidium member and deputy leader of the House, breathed her last while undergoing treatment for post-Covid complications at Combined Military Hospital in Dhaka at 11:40pm on Sunday (September 11) at the age of 87.
The Faridpur-2 lawmaker was admitted to the hospital with post-Covid-19 complications towards the end of August.
Sajeda Chowdhury was elected an MP for the seventh time in 2019 from the Faridpur-2 constituency.
She received Swadhinata Padak (Independence Award) in 2010 for her immense contribution to the war of Liberation.
