Cricketer Al-Amin gets bail in domestic violence case

Bangladesh national team cricketer Al-Amin Hossain has received permanent bail in a domestic violence case filed by his wife Israt Jahan.
Judge Begum Mafroza Parvin of Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-8 of Dhaka granted him the bail on Tuesday (November 1) following a petition.
Earlier this morning, Al-Amin through his lawyer surrendered in the court seeking permanent bail.
On September 6, an HC bench gave the cricketer an eight-week bail and ordered him to surrender after this period was over.
Al-Amin surrendered in the court today as per the court order.
On October 6, Al-Amin submitted an affidavit to the court, claiming he divorced Ishrat on August 25.
Al-Amin was granted bail in the case till October 6 only by Dhaka metropolitan magistrate Shafi Uddin, on a bond of Tk 5,000, on September 27. The case was filed by his wife on September 7.
Judge Shafi Uddin of the court took the case into cognizance and had asked Al-Amin to appear before the court.
According to the case statement, Ishrat and Al-Amin were married on December 26, 2012. The couple have two sons. Ishrat says Al-Amin does not contact her and their children for extended periods and does not pay for their sustenance either. On August 25, Al-Amin allegedly came home around 10:30 pm and demanded Tk 20 lakh as a dowry.
On September 1, Ishrat lodged a complaint with Mirpur Model police against him over torturing her for dowry. Later, police registered a case.
On September 3, Al Amin sent a message to Ishrat that he will not provide her maintenance and divorced her.
On September 6, the High Court granted Al-Amin anticipatory bail for eight weeks in the case over the torture of his wife for dowry.
