Five more die of dengue in 24hrs

Bangladesh has reported five more deaths in 24 hours till Wednesday morning raised this year’s fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease to187, amid a sharp rise in dengue cases in different parts of the country.

During this period, 796 more patients were hospitalized with dengue fever, a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

A total of 3,144 dengue patients, including 1,915 in the capital, are now receiving treatment at hospitals across the country.

The first death from dengue was reported on June 21, this year,” the daily statement of the DGHS said.

A total of 187 people died from dengue disease between January 1 and November 9. With the new cases, the total number of dengue patients this year rose to 45,598 while some 42,267 patients were released from the hospitals.
