Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud has said that BNP wants to create chaos by holding mass rally at Nayapaltan in the capital.
He made the comment to reporters after unveiling a book in the conference room of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting at the Secretariat on Wednesday (November 30).
In reply to a query, Hasan Mahmud said, “The government allotted them the Suhrawardy Udyan from honest intention. The conference of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) also brought forward from December 8 and fixed it on December 6 so that BNP can hold the rally peacefully.”
He said, “The government cannot allow the gathering of arsonists from all over the country to create chaos and create chaos in Dhaka city, the capital.”
The Information Minister said, “Obviously the government has to take measures to ensure the safety of people’s lives and property and to maintain peace and stability. In this case too, if they finally refuse and express their position to hold the rally at Nayapaltan, then the government will express its position and also Awami League.”
“We have already said that Awami League will be vigilant in every ward. We have requested the leaders and workers of Awami League to be careful. We, the Awami League, will be on the alert from ward to ward so that no one can create chaos in the country. If necessary, Awami League will resist those who create chaos with the people,” said Awami League’s joint general secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud.
