‘Poll schedule of BNP MPs’ vacant seats to be declared Dec 18’

Election Commissioner Md Alamgir said, the Election Commission will announce the schedule of the by-elections to the vacant parliamentary seats of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party lawmakers on December 18.

The commissioner said this while replying reporters at his office in the capital’s Agargaon on Thursday (December 15).

He said, we have a meeting on Sunday and discussion will be held on the by-election to vacant seats.The by-election schedule will be announced after the meeting.

In reply to a question regarding the date, he said the election date will be announced after seeing whether there are public holidays, public examinations and religious festivals.

The BNP lawmakers who resigned are — Md Zahidur Rahman of Thakurgaon-3; Md Mosharof Hosen of Bogura-4; Gulam Mohammad Siraj of Bogura-6; Md Aminul Islam of Chapainawabganj-2, and Rumeen Farhana from women's reserved seats.
