Metro rail ticket sale begins Dec 29, check the fare chart

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wdnesday (December 28) opened the much-awaited metro rail services. With the inauguration, the country entered into an era of urban transportation system introducing faster mode of passenger train and the first-ever electric train to operate from Uttara to Agargaon.
Metro rail ticket sales will start from December 29. People can travel on metro rail with tickets.
It was learned that there are plans to sell ‘Single Journey Ticket’ and ‘MRT Pass’ of the country’s first metro rail.
Managing Director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited MAN Siddik said, “We are satisfied with all the preparations. The decision to start selling the cards after the Prime Minister leaves the station will be finalized in consultation with the SSF. Those who purchase a single use card from the station must surrender the card after travel. Cards will be sold from vending machines and booths.
Those who want to use the card more than once, can use it for 10 years if they buy the ‘MRT Pass’ card. But for this card one has to register and pay Tk 400 (non-refundable). Out of Tk 400, Tk 200 can be used as deposit money and Tk 200 can be used for travel. A passenger can recharge the card up to Tk10,000. He further said by returning the card, the passenger will get the money back.
According to metro rail sources, the metro rail will run only from Uttara North (Diabari) station to Agargaon. The journey will not stop at any station for the time being. However, from March 26, metro rail journeys will stop at all stations from Diabari to Agargaon.
