Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has said that it will not be tolerated if BNP causes public sufferings in the capital in name of the pre-announced mass sit-in programme. However, peaceful activities will not be hindered.

He said this in reply to a query after inaugurating Mujib Corner at Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) headquarters on Tuesday (January 10).

The Home Minister also said the government has never obstructed the programmes of BNP as a political party. But, all past programmes were violent. Security agencies will counter road blocking, vandalism or sabotage in name of public mass sit-in. They are instructed to do so. In name of the programme, they have committed various acts of violence and sabotage in the past. We have made all kinds of preparations in the light of those experiences.

At that time, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Chowdhury Abdullah Al Mamun, DMP Commissioner Khandaker Golam Faruq and other senior police officers were present.
