Bangladesh has informed China about the fresh unrest at the Zero Line on the Myanmar border. Dhaka has requested Beijing to discuss the issue with the Myanmar government to resolve it.
Chinese Ambassador to Bangladesh Yao Wen on Sunday (January 22) made a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Md Shahriar Alam and Foreign Secretary Masud Bin Momen.
After the meeting, the state minister briefed the reporters. When asked whether there was a discussion with the Chinese ambassador about the border, the state minister said, “Of course. We have informed details to the Chinese ambassador to discuss with the Myanmar government. He (Ambassador) hopes that this kind of coercion will not happen in future. As we have also discussed, Myanmar has this complexity in multiple regions.”
The state minister said Bangladesh is in a cautious position regarding the border. He said, as far as we have information, a conflict between the two rival organizations of Myanmar, the separatists or the Arms group whatever they are called, took place at the ground zero. Which is very close to Bangladesh border. The Rohingya camp there was almost completely burnt down. We are careful. Our BGB has ensured that there is no infiltration into Bangladesh from there.
The Chinese ambassador told the state minister that very soon a high-level committee from Myanmar will come to Bangladesh and visit the Rohingya camps.
