Charge hearing in case against cricketer Al-Amin deferred

A Dhaka court has deferred the date for framing charges against Bangladesh National Cricket Team’s pacer Al-Amin Hossain in a case filed over the allegations of domestic violence to March 5.

Today was set for holding charge hearing of the case in the court of Judge of the Dhaka Woman and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Court-8 Mafroza Parveen. However, acting Judge Habibur Rahman Siddiqui set new date for next charge hearing as the judge concerned was on a leave.

Ishrat Jahan, wife of the national team pacer (pace-bowler), filed a complaint with Mirpur Model Thana on September 1 last year where she alleged that Al-Amin tortured and physically abused her for dowry. Also, the victim was forcefully driven out of her house with her minor kids, the complaint said.

After primary investigation and verification, police on September 2 registered the complaint as a case of domestic violence.

On September 6, the High Court granted an eight-week anticipatory bail to Al-Amin. The next day, the victim filed another case against his husband seeking maintenance of her and children.
