Mirpur-10 station of Metro Rail is set to be opened to commuters on Wednesday (March 1). This is going to be the fifth station launched for commuters.

Samiul Kader, assistant manager of Mirpur-10 station, on Tuesday (February 28) afternoon said, “All the preparations have been completed. Now only work of washing is going on. If everything goes well, passengers will be able to use this station from Wednesday morning.”

After launching the station, passengers of Mirpur will be able to travel by metro rail effortlessly. Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) managing director MAN Siddique expects that more passengers will travel by metro rail once the station is opened.

He said, Mirpur-10 is one of the highly populated areas of Dhaka. From here we expect to get more number of passengers. Although it will take some days for the people of this area to get used to using the station and Metrorail.

The Managing Director of DMTCL requested all metro rail passengers to use relatively new currency notes instead of old, torn ones at the Ticket Vending Machines (TVMs).

He said the remaining four stations from Uttara to Agargaon will also be opened in March. Apart from this, preparations are being made to run the metro rail from morning to midnight in July.

Mentionable, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the metro rail from Uttara to Agargaon on December 28 last year.

The government has fixed Tk 40 for Uttara North Station from Mirpur-10 station while Tk 30 for Uttara Center and South Station, Tk 20 for Pallabi and Agargaon each.
