Moon not sighted, Ramadan begins Friday

Muslims in the country will start fasting from Friday (March 24) as the Ramadan moon was not seen in any part of the country.
State Minister for Religious Affairs Faridul Haque Khan made the announcement after a meeting with the National Moon Sighting Committee at the Islamic Foundation office at Baitul Mukarram on Wednesday evening.
Tarabih prayers will follow ‘Isha’ prayers on Thursday night.
Earlier, the National Moon Sighting Committee joined the meeting on 6:30pm.
Islamic Foundation director general (additional secretary) Dr Muhammad Bashirul Alam, Cabinet division’s joint secretary Md Saiful Islam, Information Ministry’s joint secretary Md Nazrul Islam, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Religious Affairs Abdul Quader Sheikh, Senior Deputy Chief Information Officer Md Abdul Jalil, Cabinet Division Deputy secretary Md Saiful Islam Bhuyan and others attended the meeting.
