Train will run experimentally on Padma Bridge for the first time on April 4.
Shariful Alam, Deputy Chief Information Officer of the Ministry of Railways, confirmed the information on Tuesday (March 28).
He said, “April 4 is a probable date for trial train operation on Padma Bridge. And the railway tracks from Mawa to Bhanga will be completed by June. Rail trial has already been successfully completed on the 32 km railway line of that section. About 98.50 percent of the railway bridge work has already been completed.”
The project officials said the railway track installation on the main bridge is almost completed. Only setting up a span of seven meters remains left. A six and a half kilometer railway line without stones is being laid on the main bridge on the viaduct.
About 75.92 percent progress has been made on the entire project. And to facilitate the speedy work, the work of the rail connection project at Padma Bridge has been increased by 3 percent. 74.14 percent of the work on the section from Dhaka to Mawa has been completed.
On the other hand, 91.88 percent of the Mawa-Bhanga section and 68 percent of the Bhanga-Jashore section have been completed. Now the Dhaka-Mawa part of the project is being speeded up by stopping train movement on the Dhaka-Narayanganj route.
