999 helpline reopens

The 999 emergency service, which was suspended following the massive fire at Bangabazar, has resumed after nine hours.
Police headquarters issued a statement in this regard on Tuesday evening (April 4).
Md Kamrul Hasan, public relation officer at Police Headquarters, confirmed the matter.
The national emergency service office is near Bangabazar and the fire disrupted various cables required for the service.
Earlier, the fire broke out around 6:10 am on Tuesday, engulfing one of the biggest markets for cheaper clothes. As many as 48 units of firefighters worked for more than six hours to control the blaze.
