Rokia Afzal Rahman no more

Rokeya Afzal Rahman, an adviser of the caretaker government of Bangladesh in 2011 and founder president of the Women Entrepreneur Association of Bangladesh (WEAB), has passed away.

She was 82.

The chairperson of Mediaworld Ltd, the owning company of The Daily Star, passed away peacefully in her sleep early Wednesday at the Mt. Elizabeth Novena Hospital in Singapore.
She left behind two daughters, a son and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn her death.

Her body would be brought back to Dhaka on Thursday evening (6 April).

Active in business till her demise, Rokia was also director shareholder of Mediastar, and a shareholder director of ABC Radio.
