The Dhaka New Market of the capital has been closed for indefinite period due to the fire broke out at the nearby Dhaka New Super Market.
The market will remain closed until the further notice, said Aminul Islam, president of traders’ association of the market.
He said, “There are activities of ensuring security at New Market. We will work here so that such fire does not occur in future. For this, we decided to hold a meeting with traders. The decision of them will depend when the market will open.”
A terrible fire broke out at the Dhaka New Super Market early Saturday (April 15). Some 28 units of Fire Service brought the blaze under control with their 6-hour frantic efforts. Special teams of Police, RAB and Army cooperated the Fire Service to douse the blaze. Most of the shops of the market gutted in the fire.
