Narayanganj steel mill explosion: Death toll rises to 5

Another man died from the explosion that took place at a steel re-rolling mill in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj.

With this, the death toll from the explosion rose to five.

Golam Rabbani, 35, succumbed to his burn injuries while undergoing treatment at Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery with 95% burn injuries around 11 am on Friday (May 5).

Dr. SM Ayub Hossain, resident surgeon of Sheikh Hasina National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery, said Rabbani suffered 95 per cent burns. Two more were undergoing treatment there in critical condition. 

The explosion took place on Thursday (May 4) afternoon when workers were melting iron at the mill in Rupganj. 

Seven workers were injured in the explosion.
