The High Court (HC) has granted bail to former Superintendent of Police (SP) Babul Akter in a case filed by Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) Chattogram Metro’s SP Naima Sultana under the Digital Security Act and Special Powers Act.
However, the court has kept another bail petition stand over (waiting for hearing) for two months in a case filed by PBI Chief Banaj Kumar Majumder under the Digital Security Act and Special Powers Act.
The bench of Justice Mustafa Zaman Islam and Justice Md Aminul Islam handed down the order on Sunday (June 4).
Advocate Mohammad Shishir Manir argued for Babul, while Deputy Attorney General Sarwar Hossain Bappi and Anisur Rahman stood for the state.
PBI Chattogram Metro’s SP Naima Sultana filed the case against former SP Babul Akter, expatriate journalist and YouTuber Ilias Hossain and two others on October 19 last year.
The other accused are Babul’s brother Habibur Rahman Labu and his father Abdul Wadud Miah.
