Metro rail test run inaugurated on Agargaon-Motijheel route

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader has officially inaugurated the test run of Agargaon to Motijheel section of metro rail.

He inaugurated the test run at Agargaon Metro Rail Station on Friday (July 7) afternoon. Metro Rail is like to run officially on this section in October.

Earlier, a train was run experimentally from Agargaon to Motijheel section on Wednesday night.

The section of Uttara to Agargaon was inaugurated on December 28 of last year by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited Deputy General Manager Nazmul Islam Bhuiyan on Thursday (July 6) said, “A train was run on a trial basis on Wednesday night from Agargaon to Motijheel section of the metro rail to check whether the line is working properly. If the test run is successful, the trial run will start. After that, transporting passengers will start in full swing in October.”

There are seven metro rail stations in Agargaon to Motijheel section. These are – Bijoy Sarani, Farmgate, Karwanbazar, Shahbagh, TSC, Secretariat and Motijheel. Of these, three stations—Farmgate, Shahbagh and Motijheel—are expected to open in the first week of October. An average of 97 percent of these stations have been completed.
