All existing cases under DSA to continue: Attorney General

Attorney General Abu Mohammad Amin Uddin has said that though the government has taken a decision to scrap the Digital Security Act (DSA) 2018, replaced by the Cyber Security Act 2023, all the ongoing cases filed under the DSA will continue. No cases will be scrapped.

He made the disclosure while talking to the reporters at his office at the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday (August 7).

Attorney General said, “A saving clause is established when any law is scrapped or amended which states ‘the cases which are pending, it is to be assumed that the Act has not been abrogated.’ Same thing has happened to all the laws that have been repealed or amended so far.

The decision to change the law is positive, he mentioned.
