A student of Dhaka University (DU) died after falling from the roof of ‘Bijoy Ekattor Hall’ early Wednesday (September 20).
The deceased was identified as Firoz Kazi, 22. He was fourth year student of Foreign Language department at DU for the academic calendar 2019-20.
Duty doctors at the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) declared Firoz dead after he was taken there with unconscious condition around 1am.
DU student Mahim Khan who brought Firoz to the DMCH said, “Firoz used to live at Muktijoddha Ziaur Rahman Hall and we live at Bijoy Ekattor Hall. Hearing a sound, we went out of Bijoy Ekattor Hall and found Firoz lying on the ground floor. Later, we took him to the hospital.”
“It was unclear yet whether Firoz ‘committed suicide’ or carelessly fell down from the Bijoy Ekattor Hall. There were no injury marks on his body,” Mahim added.
Inspector Bachchu Mia, also in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police camp, said that the body was kept at the hospital morgue.
We informed Shahbagh police about the matter, he said.
