4 crore people’s purchasing capacity like Europe: Commerce Minister

Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi has said that the purchasing capacity of the country’s four crore people is comparable to the people of Europe.

The minister came up with the claim while speaking at the inaugural session of 18th National Furniture Fair at Bashundhara International Convention City in the city on Tuesday (17 October).

He said, “Bangladesh has become a role model of development in the world under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina”.

There is no alternative to creating skilled manpower in the country for the development of any sustainable industry like the furniture industry.

There is a scope to earn a lot of foreign currency through exporting furniture. The purpose of the fair is to develop the domestic furniture industry as well as to increase exports outside the country, he said.

The fair, organised by Bangladesh Furniture Industries Owners Association (BFIOA), will remain open for all from 10am to 8pm till October 21.
