Khawaja Tower fire yet to come under control

The fire broke out at Khawaja Tower in the capital’s Mohakhali area on Thursday afternoon did not come under control in four hours.
According to Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, a total of 12 units are working to douse the fire.
Other forces like army, navy and air force are assisting them to bring the fire under control.
Rozina Akter, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defence Headquarters, said the fire originated at 4:30pm on the 12th floor of the 14-storey building.
Six people trapped inside the building have been rescued. The cause of the fire could not be known immediately, she said.
Plying of motor vehicles on both sides of the road from Amtoli to Gulshan-1 were suspended after the fire broke out. Moreover, electricity supply to the entire area was suspended as a precautionary measure, plunging the whole area into darkness.
